Because
we are involved with helping communities prior, during and
after community disasters/events, we help provide a non-kill rescue adoption fostering program called
MISSION HOME (formerly known as Operation Revolution)
to help the animals. We rescue animals from
disasters, rural shelters and rural veterinarian offices. These
beautiful creatures are cared for by our loving foster homes and
looking for a lifetime home that will provide loving care,
proper medical care and companionship. All animals are examined by our Vet,
sterilized vaccinated, medicated appropriately.
If you are interested
in one of these adorable animals, please be sure to read our policy
below and complete our application
form below. We ask for your patience during the adoption process as we
are all volunteers - Thank you.

--COMING
SOON 2010
We
will slowly be evaluating random dogs in our program on C-BARQ,
which stands for (Canine
Behavioral Assessment and Research Questionnaire).
The results will be shared with adopters! This will help you
determine additional training or behavior modification that is needed.
To learn more about C-BARQ, click
here.
Other expenses could include
pre-surgery blood work, dentals on older cats/dogs, treatment for upper
respiratory infections, treatment of fungus infections, all types of
surgeries (i.e., corrective surgery for botched declaws, broken legs, even
amputations and many other medical issues). 98% of all the animals that we
rescue, are not spayed/neutered. We
make every effort not to adopt sick animals. We will share all medical
information with you during the final adoption process. Take
the time to understand the critical importance of vaccinations (as well as
dewormers) and when you rescue an animal be sure to find out what
vaccination was used and if all recommended doses were given. Make
sure that if you live in a high risk area that you are providing
proper protection for your pets for parasites. Here are two great sites that we recommend
in helping you understand and make wise decisions in the care of your pets
or even adoptable pets... These are merely suggestions and we encourage you
to talk to your own veterinarian.

GENERAL
ADOPTION
POLICY
We
do have an adoption donation fee. We charge for the medical care that
is provided, and often give discounts as some medical expenses exceed what
we could ever adopt an animal for. (Example: Full treatment of Parvo,
Heartworm, etc.) The
adoption fee rarely covers all of the expenses that are required to arrange an animal for a healthy adoption.
We do not receive free vet medical care and due to our vets increasing their
prices, we have had to increase our adoption prices. Adoption fee's do not cover the costs of rescuing animals, nor
the daily care of each animal in foster care. The
medical services that are often provided in the adoption fee are noted
below. We realize our application might be scary to you,
but we hope you understand that our oath is to the animals. Our
priority is to use every tool possible to ensure a loving and lifetime home
for each animal under our care. These animals were unwanted. We take great lengths to
ensure your privacy and protect your confidential information.
CAT/KITTEN

tied to a object to prevent the dog from leaving premises.

policy: You must complete the Adoption Application, You must
find and provide a local rescue group in your area to us, that is willing to
perform the home visit - you must provide their name and phone number
(please contact them first, and receive approval that they are willing to
help in this manner - majority rescue groups across the United States are
more than willing to help in this manner). The Adoption
Application must be processed and approved by the Board and you must come to
Missouri to meet the pet (at your own expense), also you must pay any additional charges for
necessary tests/vaccinations/medications that will be needed and make your
own travel arrangement of the animal from Kansas City to your home.
You are also responsible for all costs associated in returning the animal to
us, if you do not wish to keep, at anytime. We will work with you on this process. To see a list of travel
arrangements for pets, please click here.
There is a mandatory $35 fee that covers a required health exam with Travel
Health Certificate for all animals leaving the State of Missouri, this exam
and Travel Health Certificate is performed by our Veterinarian, this fee is
not covered in the adoption fee above.
Canines
evaluation on BARQ (Canine Behavioral Assessment and Research
Questionnaire). The C-BARQ (or Canine Behavioral
Assessment and Research Questionnaire)
is designed to provide dog owners and professionals with standardized
evaluations of canine temperament and behavior. The C-BARQ was developed by
researchers at the Center for
the Interaction of Animals and Society of the University of
Pennsylvania, and is currently the only behavioral assessment instrument of
its kind to be extensively tested for reliability and validity on large
samples of dogs of many breeds. We feel this test will allow us to better
find the right home for the canine and will also give adopters suggested
recommendations on future training or behavior modification; when adopting the canine.
Our Veterinarians for our
adoptable program include, but not limited to: Our Primary Veterinarian In Jackson County, Missouri:
SouthPort Animal Hospital, Our Emergency Care Veterinarian In Johnson County, Missouri: Alpine Animal Clinic and Holden Animal Hospital, and
our primary spay/neuter Veterinarian in Pettis County, Missouri: Spay and Neuter Clinic. Our
specialty Veterinarian in Holistic Care is: Dr. Patricia Perkins of Canine
Performance. *We
are seeking more Veterinarian Offices throughout Missouri that are
willing/want to work with us on animals rescued, especially those in their
respective communities. Please contact us to discuss further.

The importance of spaying and neutering cannot be stressed enough. (Majority
of the problems in disasters are in fact the animals that are not
spayed/neutered!) There are more cats/dogs in the State of Missouri than we
(and all the rescue groups put together) can ever rescue and place into
loving homes. We all need to do our part in controlling the overpopulation
of cats and dogs. Please we encourage you to be a responsible pet owner and
have all your pets spayed/neutered.
Because our Board of
Director President, Tisha, is currently studying to be a Veterinarian and is
a member of the AVAR (Association of Veterinarians for Animal Rights/www.avar.org)
We do NOT adopt out to anyone
who wishes to perform the procedure of Onychectomy (declawing) to
one of our adoptable cats. Please understand that we do rescue cats
that have been declawed, and therefore do offer these cats up for adoption,
to special homes, since the procedure can not be reversed! If you would like
to learn more about the truth on declawing, please visit www.declawing.com
website. This includes dog declawing, as well as ear and tail
cropping - it is not permitted! Ear Tipping is permitted/required for our
barn cat freeroaming program.
All cats and kittens adopted
from us, must be inside only cats, unless special circumstances and approval
is given because you are adopting a feral/barn (free-roaming) cat from us.

If you are having financial
problems and need your pet(s) spayed or neutered, we recommend the following
resources. Feel free to tell them that we referred you:
No More Homeless Pets of
Kansas City in Merriam, KS, 816-333-PETS
Spay and Neuter Clinic of
Kansas City, 816-353-0940
Dr. Cheryl Albin Spay and
