WHY SPAY/NEUTER YOUR PET(S)? CLICK
HERE!
This project is a volunteer-ran
collaborated effort to help rural residents in Johnson County, MO obtain affordable spay/neuter
services for felines(cats)/canines(dogs). With the continual increase
in gasoline prices, this program has become even more vitally needed!
CARRMISSOURI® has signed an agreement with Dr. Cheryl Albin of Sedalia,
Missouri (State/Board Certified Veterinarian) to perform high-quality/low-cost surgical
services to the public, to help combat the animal pet overpopulation
problems. To make this possible and help the public, we are providing
transportation to/from her office in Sedalia.
How the program works: we make
mutual agreed upon meeting spots on/around 50 hwy to meet in the mornings
between 7-8 am. Then we transport your animals to Dr. Albin's office
for surgery. We then make pre-arranged meeting spots to meet you
again that evening, generally around 5-6pm for you to pick up your pet(s).
So the surgery is a one day event!
OPERATION KINDNESS/POLICY & SUGGESTIONS:
- Prices: Domestic Felines $40,
Feral/Barn Cat Felines $35 and Canines $50, which includes all surgery
costs. At time of surgery
only she/we will offer the following services: Distemper Vaccinations
$10, Rabies Vaccinations $10, Heartworm Testing $15, and Microchip $15. We are
hoping to add additional services at the time of surgery, as
contributions and/or donations are received to do such. (effective July
1, 2009 price increase was implemented.)
- We have no income
requirements for this program, this service is available to the
entire public, but it is only available for healthy and young cats/dogs.
- Minimum weight for canines (dogs)
is 20 lbs. Suggested age is 3 months and up and weighing at
least 15 lbs. Puppies
should have minimum of two sets of vaccination already (we recommend
highly that your puppy have at minimum the following two component
vaccinations two weeks prior to any surgery: Parvovirus is
a serious viral dog disease affecting the intestines, white blood cells,
and heart. Fever, vomiting, dehydration, and severe diarrhea are
associated with this disease. In puppies, this disease can often be
fatal. Canine Distemper Virus (CDV) CDV is a
contagious, viral dog disease that that affects the respiratory,
gastrointestinal, and central nervous systems. It is commonly
transmitted by contact with infected dogs, or their environments (most
commonly transmitted through airborne viral particles that dogs breathe
in). CDV occurs among domestic dogs and many other carnivores, including
raccoons, skunks, and foxes. There is no cure for CDV, so treatment is
supportive.) To learn more about what vaccinations and when your dog
should receive these, click
here.
- Minimum weight for felines (cats)
is 3 lbs. Suggested age is 3 months and up. Kittens
should have minimum of one set of vaccinations already (we recommend
highly that your kitten have at minimum the FVRCP vaccination two weeks
prior to any surgery. FVRCP stands for: Feline Rhinotracheitis,
Calici, Panleukopenia.) To learn more about what vaccinations and when
your cat should receive these, click
here.
- VACCINATIONS ARE NOT REQUIRED
ONLY SUGGESTED. You can have vaccinations performed at time of
surgery at a very reasonable cost, see above.
- Pets should not have any
water/food after 10:00pm, the night prior to surgery. For
anesthesia purposes.
- Pets will need to receive post-op
care from you, that requires you to keep the pets contained inside out
of harms way and from the elements of the weather for 5-10 days after
surgery, for a healthy and successful recovery from surgery.
- If you are performing TNR on
feral cats/dogs, we will make suggestions on how to perform these
processes and suggestions above. With a returnable deposit we can
loan you the humane traps.
- All feral/free-roaming cats must
participate in the humane TNR program to receive the feral cat program
service cost ($35). This requires that the left ear be
ear-tipped. To learn more about this safe and humane ear-tipping
protocol, click
here.
- Payments of services are due the
day of surgery. All checks, money orders, cashier checks must be
made payable to: CARRMISSOURI.
- Surgical medical care permission
forms will need to be completed by the owner or caretaker, at the time
of drop off in the morning. As well as, transportation permission
forms for transporting your pet(s) by a volunteer of CARRMISSOURI®
to/from Dr. Albin's office in Sedalia.
- All animals must be transported
in an appropriate size traveling crate. If you need us to provide
the crate, please just let us know. For medium to extra large dogs
we provide the crates, due to space.
- Our Veterinarian does perform
pregnancy termination, at no extra cost, as long as they are not in the
last term of the pregnancy. Additional post-op instructions may be
given to ensure a healthy and successful recovery from surgery.
She does perform surgeries on animals that are in heat, without
additional charge, unless she feels that the risks are too great.
She does perform surgeries on males that may have cryptorchid, at no
additional charge.
- A phone number where you can be
reached that day, must be given, so that if the Veterinarian has
questions or concerns she can reach you.
There is a $5 transport surcharge
incorporated into each animals surgery price above, this expense helps us
pay for gasoline and general maintenance expenses on the vehicles we use to
transport your animals to receive low-cost spay and neuter at Dr. Cheryl
Albin's Clinic. The vehicles that are used belong to each volunteer,
and not CARRMISSOURI.
Public funding to support this effort is needed to keep
this project going! If you would like to help and donate money or

property, we can help by setting up a special plan, that addresses your
entire colony so that it becomes manageable instead of
unmanageable!
And it can happen FAST... In less than three years, you can have over 1000
cats from all the offsprings and their offsprings and their offsprings - all
of which are continuing to reproduce! Here is a picture to proof (a
real local farm) of how fast it can happen to you!

"Over
80 million dogs/cats die or are killed just in shelters every single
year! This is not an individual problem - this is a community and
national social public policy problem! We don't own this planet, we
are caretakers to it - and all of it's inhabitants! If this is not
genocide against a species then what is? Pet over- population is a
every community problem across this nation, and it can be humanely addressed
and solved. By sterilizing animals, one animal at a time, it still
will take us 100 plus years to ever reach a level of not being in an
animal overpopulation crisis. Perhaps
one day our shelters will no longer euthanize animals because of space, time
frame or money. Perhaps we will have a day on this planet when all
species are valued as a life form, rather than a material
possession." -
Tisha.
