OUR MISSION TO REDUCE PET
OVER-POPULATION, BEFORE A DISASTER STRIKES! OUR TARGET MARKET: Johnson
County, Missouri and the five surrounding counties. OUR TARGET
CLIENTS: low-income. OUR TARGET
PATIENTS: Dogs, Cats.
Information from the US CENSUS
BUREAU, 2000.
Estimated Client Populations:
Johnson County, Missouri (48,258), Pettis County, Missouri (39,403),
Lafayette County, Missouri (32,960), Henry County, Missouri (21,997), Cass
County, Missouri (82,092), Eastern Jackson County, Missouri [Lone Jack,
Lee's Summit, Blue Springs, Grain Valley, Oak Grove, Buckner, Sibley, Levasy,
Lake Lotawana] (150,000).
Estimated Patient Population:
100,000 Households at or below low-income of $35,000 per year. Average
of each household having 2.5 pets = 250,000 pets.
These numbers do not include animal
shelters, animal rescue groups and the feral dogs and cats located
throughout the counties. Estimated 150,000 animals among this
category.
Performing 200 surgery's per month x
12 months = 2400 animals per year. To spay/neuter all of these
estimated animals it is going to take 10+ years! Estimated that each
year one dog produces one litter of 8. One cat produces two litters of
6 each year. However, by performing 2400 spay/neuters per year this
BEGINS to decrease the problems - within TWO YEARS results of the pet over
population will begin to be noticed! This will begin to reduce the
60-70% of animals that are euthanized each year because of there NOT being
enough homes for all of them.
We are in a dark tunnel in these
counties, but we all agree that the answer is to start doing something by ACTIONS,
and we will begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
Through this project and voucher
programs, we can make a difference in these counties that continue to
increase in population of humans and ANIMALS.
Thank
you! |
